Hi-Tech, Low Cost Self-Cleaning Toilet for ALS Patients
Posted May 25, 1999 in Passages

The Lubidet is a wonderful aid for dignity and cleanliness. It is a bidet that attaches to your toilet. You will need a three prong electrical outlet for power. It attaches to the cold water line feeding the toilet with a saddle valve. It cleanes you completely after a bowel movement, and for females after urination. The cleansing arm attaches to the toilet bowl and swings out of the way until needed. It has a built-in heater to warm the water, and a warm air blower for drying you afterward. The patient or caregiver manipulates it by twisting a knob connected to the arm and using a lever to either wash or dry.

I have used the Lubidet for over a year and love it. The only fault I can find with it is that it isn't portable. I like it so much that I tell people that if I got well tomorrow, it's the only piece of equipment I would keep. It costs about $400, but the company often runs specials, so you might be able to get it for $300. It is worth every penny.
