Posted November 17, 2004 in ALS Research

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – A potential cure for Lou Gehrig’s Disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) could have taken a step toward reality on Monday when Aeolus Pharmaceuticals announced that it had launched a Phase I clinical trial of its proposed treatment.

The drug, known as AEOL 10150, has been administered to a number of people afflicted with ALS. The trial will take place at as many as six different sites, according to Aeolus.

The trial is expected to conclude in the first quarter of next year.
The drug has proven to be effective in treating ALS symptoms in animals.
