Ride For Life can only function with the support of people like you. And you don't have to be a millionaire to show your support. Support can mean giving up time to help, donating your car, telling a friend.

Announcing a Special Scholarship for the ALS Community in New York

Ride for Life has initiated the first scholarship for a high school Senior who resides in New York State and who has an immediate family member diagnosed with ALS. The scholarship isfunded by the inaugural Educators' Cup, a yearly golf outing organized by the Ride and supported by Long Island educators and businesses.

To be eligible, the candidate will :

  1. Have an immediate family member (living or deceased) affected with ALS. This includes only parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles or siblings

  2. Be a graduating high school Senior admitted to college.
  3. Be a resident of New York State.
  4. Complete and submit an application (applications will be available online by Mid-March 2009)
A Committee composed of Ride for Life members and Educator Cup supporters will review and rank the candidates as follows:
  1. Familial relationship
  2. Residence
  3. Impact of ALS on student's life and connection with the patient
  4. Advocacy and fundraising for ALS awareness
The Committee will conduct a lottery when candidates are equally ranked. All decisions are final and at the discretion of the Committee.

The Ride for Life is pleased to partner with Long Island teachers to assist ALS families and support education. As the Educators Cup grows, it is our hope to grow the scholarship opportunities. If you have any questions about the Scholarship Program please contact Christine at linumom@aol.com
