Ride for Life 2008

A special thanks to the hundreds of people who contributed to the success of the 2008 ALS Ride For Life. From the extraordinary and tireless efforts of our volunteers, the generosity of our corporate sponsors and individual donors, the fundraising efforts and hospitality of students and school staff of the many schools we visited, the restaurants and hotels who provided nourishment and a place to rest our weary bones, the walkers who helped us spread awareness and 20,000 brochures and the thousands of people who welcomed us to their towns.

Most of all, thank you ALS Patient Riders and caregivers – your courage and determination are an inspiration to us all.

Does anyone know what time it is???

IT'S TIME FOR A CURE!

Ride for Life started in 1998 when a small group of patients rode their electric wheelchairs over 350 miles from Yankee Stadium to Washington D.C. to call attention to ALS and the needs of those living with the disease.

Ride for Life 2008 began on Saturday, May 4th from the town square in Montauk, on the tip of Long Island and ended on Sunday, May 10th at St. Paul's Chapel on the grounds of Columbia University. ALS patients, joined by family and friends, rode their electric wheelchairs for 7 days and over 150 miles to once again call attention the disease and raise funds for a cure.

Over the past 11 years, Ride for Life has raised nearly $2 million dollars to help researchers find a cure and to provide much needed patient services.
