RIDE FOR LIFE 2009
Day 6: Monday, May 18, 2009
Today we began our second week across LI. Ride for Life participants were smiling early this morning as members and friends that would not be with us last week are able to be part of today’s walk.
The Norwood Ave School in Northport was our first stop. All the students were outside as we approached. Their wonderful signs were held high and their faces lit up as each patient approached. Mrs. Timmons treated us to our song, Blowin in the Wind.
Dickinson Ave School welcomed Chris back home because it was home to Chris during all the years he taught there. Students held up pinwheels to signify the cure is blowing in the wind. Inside we were treated to a delicious lunch as the students were able to visit with the patients.
At Northport Middle School, the entire student body sang Lean On Me, giving the patients and Ride group a feeling of school wide support.
Herb Ingham, Rich Kornack, and Chris Pendergast, enjoyed the reception at all of these buildings and thank the students, staff and parents for their financial and emotional support in helping them battle ALS.
