Ride For Life Day of Celebration and Remembrance
A Cure is Blowin’ in the Wind
The Field of Pinwheels
Stony Brook University (South P Lot)
Saturday, May 16, 2009
For the twelfth year, patients, families, friends, and supporters will gather to pay tribute to everyone, past and present, which have united to combat ALS. You are enthusiastically invited to join us for the noon time ceremony.
- For anyone who has lost someone to ALS, you are urged to participate in the PALS Remembrance Tribute. Ninety designated pinwheels will be placed within the display field. Somberly, each name will be read and a family member ( or representative of Ride for Life ) will walk out and place the pinwheel.
- An interfaith healing prayer will be performed for PALS battling the disease.
- There will be an announcement regarding the recent designation of the Stony Brook’s ALS Comprehensive Care Center as a “Center of Excellence” by the National ALS Association.
- The day will start out with observing the arrival of the First Annual Motorcycle Rally for ALS.
- The day will end with the cheering for the arrival of the 100 mile bicyclists who rode throughout the morning to raise awareness and funds for ALS.
